Laos Temple

Yesterday we visited a monastery and temple to catch the evening light. Many young monks were out working on something. We wandered into the courtyard and asked an older monk what they were doing. He explained that there be a festival soon so all the temples are making lanterns. Some of the monks were inside the temple chanting and praying. It was different from the chanting monks in the last Japanese temple post because all these monks were young boys, and they had papers which they were checking if they forgot the next words to the chant. Of course, I don’t know Lao, so it sounded just like music to me, but to them, there were right and wrong noises, words, which were written on their papers. I don’t have chants to practice, but I do have other homework to do at the moment so I’ll end this post with some pictures:
